Update: Reenie the Cat had Emergency Surgery, and a Word of Warning

Hi Everyone.  Thank you so much for your wonderful words of compassion and support concerning my little Reenie, the cat.  I rushed little Reenie to the vet yesterday (Monday) morning and told him what happened since he saw her on Saturday.  He told me she needed surgery and (although she had a bowel movement Friday), she probably had a blockage.    After the surgery the Vet told he had to cut her in multiple areas, and that he found THREAD in multiple areas of her intestinal tract!!    It had wadded up and caused the blockage.   He said they did as much as they could.   I'm at least hopeful.

Please keep this in mind, dear friends:  I've had pets for 30 years and always knew to store any thread, string, rubber bands,  ribbon, embroidery floss,  or anything that could lodge in an animals throat or intestines.  I never experienced this with any pet.   One moment of inattention on my part caused this.    I found the spool of thread under the sofa.   I didn't even know she had it.   Please be diligent about keeping these type of items away from your small pets.  I know cats tend to play with and eat stringy items, but the Vet told me he sees just as many small dogs.  And as you can tell from this experience, it can have horrific consequences and actually kill them.

Thank you and God bless!

Oh, Angie...I am so sorry little Reenie got into your threads. Our cats are so sneaky, aren't they? I have said prayers ever since I read of your and Rennie's distress and by the time you read this, I HOPE the worst for your baby has passed.

Take care,
Sherry

Oh the poor baby...My cat had a different type of surgery in 2006... over $1000 and it's 5 years later...so far that is $200 a year and each year I have her it makes me happy that I went ahead and did the surgery. And I hope your baby will pull through. Keep us posted as you have.
hugs
Terri
